All four A’s pitchers that got into the game were charged with atleast one run as it wasn’t a good day to be a pitcher on the Athletics staff. Starting pitcher Dana Eveland was charged with eight hits and seven runs in just five innings to take the loss. Eveland is now 9-9 on the year.
Relief pitcher Santiago Casilla gave up four runs, while Jeff Gray gave up two runs. Dan Meyer gave up one more run and three hits over his two innings of action. Just a terrible outing by all the A’s pitchers.
Chris Denorfia and Jack Cust both hit solo home runs to finish with one rbi each for the A’s. The A’s also got single rbi’s from Cliff Pennington and Rob Bowen. That was all the offense could muster against the Rangers.
The A’s will now be off on Thursday before beginning their final series of the year against the Seattle Mariners.
]]>The A’s pounded out sixteen hits and three home runs in the game. Daric Barton, Jack Hannahan, and Emil Brown all went deep in the game. Barton and Brown both had three RBI in the game while Frank Thomas, Rajai Davis, and Ryan Sweeney all had two RBI each. Chris Denorfia and Hannahan chipped in with one RBI as well.
Chad Gaudin pitched six innings and allowed five hits and two runs as he picked up his third win of the season. Gaudin is now 3-1 on the season and has been throwing the ball pretty good. Andrew Brown and Dallas Braden pitched the final two inning and only allowed one hit.
How long can the A’s keep up the good play do you think?
]]>Donnie Murphy led the A’s by going 3-5 and picking up four RBI. Murphy had solo home runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Kurt Suzuki, Emil Brown, and Mike Sweeney all had two RBI each in the game. Chris Denorfia chipped in with one RBI.
Greg Smith picked up his second in of the season as he tossed seven innings for the A’s. Smith gave up seven hits but only two runs in the game. A very good quality start for Smith as he pitched great. Andrew Brown and Joey Devine pitched the last two innings and gave up one hit each.
]]>Dana Eveland is now 2-1 for the year after his victory over the Royals. He pitched for just over 5 and a half innings giving up 3 hits and a run before being relieved by Andrew Brown and Santiago Casilla.
It was a big hitting night for the A’s as well with 2 batters, Rob Bowen and Jack Hannahan, each picking up a pair of RBIs while Chris Denorfia, Mark Ellis, and Bobby Crosby all finished with one RBI.
Now that the Athletics are done cleaning up the Royals, they are moving on to the Twins as they will battle them at home Tuesday night.
]]>In the 9th inning, Mark Ellis got the scoring going as he tripled and scored Travis Buck. Emil Brown then hit into a fielder choice that scored Ellis. Bobby Crosby then doubled to left field that scored Chris Denorfia and Brown.
Ellis finished the game going 4-5 to raise his average to .250 on the season.
Fernando Hernandez picked up the win for the Athletics. It was his first win of the season.
]]>The A’s got off to a good start when Chris Denorfia singled in Bobby Crosby in the second inning. Emil Brown came up big with a three run homerun off of Jon Lester in the third inning. That gave the Athletics a 4-0 lead after three innings but they weren’t done scoring as Jeff Fiorentino singled in Kurt Suzuki in the 8th inning.
Rich Harden was the winning pitcher for the Athletics. He pitched a great ballgame and went six innings while only allowing one run. That run came in the sixth inning when Manny Ramirez went deep for his first homerun of the season. Other then that, the A’s pitching staff did a wonderful job against the potent Red Sox lineup.
The A’s will now head back to the United States and play three exhibition games against the San Francisco Giants.
