The Oakland Athletics have agreed to one-year contracts with right-handers Brandon McCarthy and Joey Devine, avoiding arbitration. McCarthy gets $4,275,000 and Devine $737,500. They were the final two arbitration-eligible players on Oakland’s roster. McCarthy became a reliable starter after earning the fifth spot in the rotation.
