There are a couple former A’s prospects I have kept my eye on. Two in particular, outfielder Nelson Cruz of the Rangers, and recently turned first baseman Jesus Guzman of the Giants.

Guzman was recently called up to the Giants Friday night so the verdict’s still out on him on whether he can play solid enough defense to warrant a spot on a national league team. We all know he can hit. I think it was a huge mistake to not give this guy a chance. He is a power-hitting right handed bat.

Nelson Cruz was another mistake. He has more home runs, RBI’s, and stolen bases than anyone currently on the Athletics roster, 11, 30, and 6. He also bats from the right side, and has a batting average of .287.The A’s could have used Cruz this year, but gave up on him.

Do you guys think these were huge mistakes or what?

Yeah they look pretty bad right now. But its to depressing to focus on what we have done wrong. Lets focus on the things we have done right, like Daric Barton, Bobby Crosby, and Rajai Davis!
    Oh wait….

  2. BIGSTAN Says:

Just add those two too a very long list….Carlos Pena, Andre Either, Mark Tehan…just to name a few….Does anyone know what happened to the young south American pitcher thats the A’s gave all that money to in a signing bonus a few years ago? He was like 18 or 19 which really means 22 …lol. His name and ware abouts escape me right now.

  3. Nick Says:

Are you talking about Michael Ynoa? The A’s still have him, but he’s no where near ready to come up yet.

  4. KFinkas Says:

He’s in Arizona and pitching in the rookie league I believe. I think he’s 17 now.

  5. KFinkas Says:

    Giambiiiiiiii!!

  6. Nick Says:

The offense is doing pretty well off of Haren. I don’t get this offense sometimes. They make AAA starters look like All-stars and All-stars look like AAA starters. Way to go on #400 Giambi. And way to go Cust and Kennedy for your homeruns.

  7. KFinkas Says:

Ziegler coming in for the seventh? hmmmm… I guess he’s no longer the closer or set-up man?

  8. Nick Says:

Why is Springer still in the Majors?

  9. KFinkas Says:

He’s a POS! So damn annoying.

  10. KFinkas Says:

Some how Springers still a set-up man, and not Ziegler!

  11. Nick Says:

Actually, here’s a better question. Why is Bob Geren still a manager?

  12. KFinkas Says:

    Springer robbed Billy Bean.

  13. Nick Says:

Here’s another smart move by Bob Geren, let’s replace Jack Cust with Rajai Davis and then replace Rajai Davis with Travis Buck. Another wasted move by the moron managing.

  14. KFinkas Says:

haha, nice point. I guess Crosby’s left to play outfield if a replacement is needeed?? Fun!

  15. Nick Says:

Hey KFinkas, I have bad news, Nelson Cruz had a monster game for the Rangers.

  16. Nick Says:

I refuse to watch another A’s game until Geren is fired. Once again, his incompetence has cost us yet another game.

  17. KFinkas Says:

He’d be the best player on our team right now, hands down.

  18. Nick Says:

Nelson Cruz? Abosultely. Unfortunately, Geren would ruin any situation for him to shine in, I’m positive he would it.
