Oakland Athletics outfielder Conor Jackson will have sports hernia surgery on Sept. 1 and could miss the rest of the season. Jackson, acquired from Arizona on June 16, is batting .228 with one home run and five RBIs in 18 games for Oakland. He's batting .236 with two homers and 16 RBIs in 60 games overall.
