Tonight’s starter Brett Anderson was cruising through the first five innings although his pitch count was approaching 100. He gave up two walks to two Tigers and had one out, here comes Bob Geren.  110 pitches will not harm your pitcher anymore than 100 will so why take him out? Geren if he had any cojones would allow these young pitchers to develop under pressure situations, making these crucial starts worth while. Last I checked the A’s were 10 1/2 games out and the second worst record in the league. These young guys have been practically babied and by a horrible father in Bob Geren. Anyone see how many pitches Cy-Young winner Tim Lincecum throws.

What kind of coach doesn’t at least give his young pitcher a short talk and a pat on the back for the solid performance he just put out there?

I was hoping that Geren would let Anderson stay in so he could finish the inning, but I am glad that he at least let Anderson throw over 100 pitches. It could have been worse, he could have pulled Anderson out of the game right when he got to 100, even if it happened during the middle of an at bat.

Anyways, where do you think Matt Hollibust (sorry if you’re offended, but I’m not that impressed with him) will get traded to and what do you think the A’s will get in return for him?

Nick, I would love for the A’s t get a power-hitting third baseman for example Brett Wallace from the Cardinals. they have been in the rumors the most so we’ll see what we can get.

    Man Gonzalez sucks…

  6. Nick Says:

Yeah, I’m not too big of a Gio Gonzalez fan either. I’m hoping Duchscherer gets healthy before his next start but that doesn’t look likely. Anyways, do you think the A’s might also receive a pitcher in the Holliday deal, since Outman is hurt for the year?

I played Highschool ball with Brett Wallace, and I have followed his career since. This guy is a big time hitter. He dominated high school, he hit 400+ his freshman year in the pac-ten and he has blasted through every level since. He is a pure hitter, no doubt about it. If there is anyway to get him I pray that Beane makes it happen. He has potential to be a Pujols type hitter. The icing on the cake, he is a life long A’s fan, who grew up in Sonoma Co.

Northbay, sign him up! I’d take him straight up for Holliday any day.
